Friday Five - Water Rides

Happy Friday everyone, this week we are going to take a look at my top five water rides. These five have been very easy for me to list, but if I had to give any more than this I would really struggle! I do enjoy water rides, log flumes, water coasters and such, but it's rare I find one that really sticks out and is so well done like the list below. The list below is not in order.

Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls - Islands of Adventure

This is one fantastic log flume, almost seamlessly themed from the entrance, through the ride and to the exit, the ride itself is brilliant, especially the main drop, into the sheds and out into the excellent theming. A good amount of drops, nicely themed, all over great log flume.

Rio Bravo - Parque Warner Madrid

Here we have an Intamin water chute, found in the wild west area of Parque Warner. I'm not sure anyone, ever, asked for backwards airtime with their soaking, but this is where you'll get it. The theming on Rio Bravo isn't 100%, but at the same time I couldn't put my finger on exactly what I'd change about it either. I really enjoy this ride, more so than others of its kind, the backwards drop into the airtime hill is excellent and really catches you off guard your first time riding and it's just so much fun from there. The final drop also provides a very satisfying splash.

Journey to Atlantis - SeaWorld Orlando

Once again the theme here is spot on, starts with a story and is a far better opening than these rides usually get. Journey to Atlantis is a custom Mack Water Coaster and looks to be one of, if not the best of the lot, it is certainly the best themed. Such a good looking ride and fits the park really well!

Jurassic Park River Adventure - Islands of Adventure

I'm not sure how you couldn't love this ride, even if it has aged a little in terms of the theming. Massive animatronic dinosaur sending you down the drop? Yes please! For that alone this is a great ride, but the story is also well told, even as someone who doesn't particularly enjoy the films it doesn't take away from the ride experience.

Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges - Islands of Adventure

This has to be the best, wettest and most well themed rapids out there. I have never come across any other rapids, for real or online, that have come close to this. You start off by being dipped straight in, you are almost dumped out of the station into the drink and it just keeps getting wetter from there, but the heat is usually enough to make it a welcome soaking! This is the one exception for me as I usually don't enjoy rapids and rarely bother with them.
